Confidential Point of Contact (CPC) for LGBTQIA2S+ Students, Faculty, and Staff

Dr. Rebecca Norwick has been designated as the college’s Confidential Point of Contact (CPC) for LGBTQIA2S+ students, faculty, and staff, pursuant to California Senate Bill 1491 (SB 1491). SB 1491 requires community colleges to designate an employee to serve as a point of contact for LGBTQIA2S+ members of the campus community. Rebecca is available to answer questions, discuss concerns, and connect individuals with resources.

The CPC provides:

• Confidential listening. Nothing shared is reported unless you request it in writing.
• Information on District policies, protections, and available services.
• Connections to helpful resources, without starting a formal process.

The CPC does not:

• Report to Title IX Coordinator or designee unless you request it.
• Investigate complaints or make policy determinations.
• Override state law on other mandated-reporting obligations (e.g., reporting child abuse – state law still applies).

Confidentiality

The CPC role is distinct from the College’s Title IX responsibilities, and Rebecca is not a Title IX responsible employee solely by virtue of this role. Information shared with her concerning sexual harassment, sexual violence, or discrimination is confidential and will not be disclosed without the written consent, except as otherwise required by law.
