AI Caution

There have been increasing reports, as well as articles in the media, of some users of generative AI, like ChatGPT, suffering from increased mental health problems. At times this has occurred with those already struggling with mental health issues, and at other times new mental health problems have arisen even in those without any specific mental health struggles.

Our recommendations on what to avoid:

  • Long conversations with one of the AI programs that lead you into beliefs that are not real
  • Using the AI program as a substitute for therapy
  • Using AI if in a mental health crisis
